Cumulus Hong Kong 2016 was successfully held from 21- 24 Nov, 2016 at Hong Kong Design Institute. The conference welcomed over 300 delegates from more than 40 countries. Six working group discussions, six keynote speeches, more than 20 paper sessions, 12 academic workshops, an exhibition of more than 30 artefacts, eight Open Design activities, a 16-table Gala Dinner and four guided tour were held. This video captures some of the best moments to remember this remarkable party.

Themed 'Open Design for E-very-thing — exploring new design purposes', the conference seeks to explore this openness of design, namely the opening up of design process and design for openness. Six tracks starting with an ‘E’ in response to latest design research and education discussions were co-developed with international academic partners, namely Education, Empathy, Engagement, Environment, Ethnography and Experiment . A worldwide open call for submissions on these tracks was made with 338 abstract submissions . The Cumulus Hong Kong Conference accepted not only research papers as academic contributions, but also artefacts, fashion collections, movies/videos and workshops, which were presented in the Open Design Exhibition, Movie Screening and Open Design Workshops to stimulate discussions and interactions.
